When it comes to choosing prints: DON’T BE AFRAID TO GO BIG[GER]!
Many people feel ‘safe’ ordering 5×7 and 8×10 prints… as they are easy to frame and put on a table or desk.
They are also what we are “used to.”
However for the wall, it’s a much different story – even 11×14 appears very small when put on a wall – especially alone and not combined as a collage.
I just purchased a canvas of my three kiddos.
I haven’t EVER purchased a canvas of my children… I wanted to wait until I had a sweet photo of the three of them.
I decided to go for a 20×30 print and found it to fit perfectly on the wall in my kitchen.
BIGGER is better for photos, especially for wall prints.
Had I gone smaller the canvas would have looked TINY on this already small wall.
It fills the space nicely, without looking too small or too big.
I also think the colors are nice and soft, with my grayish blue and light green kitchen.
Now if only we hadn’t put the light switches that high. π
Always think about where you would want prints to fill your home and I can help you choose sizing and style! π

This is an example of a STORY BOARD.
I took these on Parx’ one year birthday – morning! I loved the gorgeous light this field provided at sunrise.
A storyboard allows you to display multiple images as a series – in one print… which you can combine with others.
Notice I paired it with one long image above.
Now, I don’t have my house finished, Β these are meant to hang on top of one another rather than displayed on the shelves.
These prints are 10″x20″ matboard prints and framed.
So true! They look gorgeous, Arden!
Thanks Jenn!
Absolutely stunning, and by the way I love your decorating style too. Very clean and crisp, yet homey as well π I think we’d get along nicely! lol
Why thank you V! We love our home, but need some MORE decorating to take place. π
Oh my goodness. I LOVE your canvas. AND your kitchen. I want to come and sit in it right this second : ) Gorgeous light. When I tell people about printing pictures I tell them GO BIG or GO HOME : ) Not really, but I do try to show them how teeny tiny an 8×10 looks on a wall. Beautifully illustrated post.
I love that… go big, period! π Thanks Becky, as always.
I so agree!! I have been telling my clients this lately and have ordered prints of my kids in larger sizes of canvases and print wraps. The print wraps rock! My new favorite! I have had several clients who are just beyond thrilled when they do get their “super-sized” print. I liken it to having a piece of artwork on your walls of your home, because really IT IS ART!!
It sure is Art, Amy! I think people are too used to ‘digital’ and blogging images, they’ve lost the perspective. π
I miss this house.. and you!! I hope you are having a good summer so far! xoxo
Awh NitNat… miss you. Are you having fun???
