I purchased a Contax 645 last August… after playing with my old assistant Kirstie and her new Contax!
The photos of me were by KIRSTIE MARIE … we took these just days before she left Texas after graduating from TCU.
It was August. It was HOT. It was FUN!!! 🙂
Kirstie – LOVE these of you… so pretty, dreamy and golden!
Thanks for letting me play… and for developing these!
Images by Sweet Kirstie…
I am not familiar with film… at all, ya know – I am the annoying photographer that all of the other film-tographers loathe.
Jumping on the medium format film shootin’ bandwagon… full speed ahead, never having done it before.
I mean, can you blame me?
The images are gorgeous, the camera is solid and rad, the shutter sound is dreamy, but it’s not easy; which means I get to work extra hard to make it right!
I love a good challenge.
Oh – film is also NOT cheap.
So, I purchased some film prior to the arrival of my new fancy massive medium format camera.
I decided to bring it along with me on some shoots… to learn, grow, understand and make EXTRA pretty dreamy images.
I finally got around to shipping my rolls of film off… to Photovision.

It was a little intimidating.
I know I am not skilled yet, I don’t know the logistics of everything about film and am a little embarrassed about not knowing all there is to know, before clicking that shutter button.
I was worried my scans would be ALL black or ALL white – due to massively screwing up the exposure.
Photovision delivered my scans several days later.
I was ACTUALLY fairly pleased with how they turned out.
The focus was off in quite a few, because shooting at 2.0 isn’t always the BEST idea or “easy” when using manual focus.
All in all I am excited to see that they were not as bad as I anticipated.
Talking to Photovision has been great and I hope to build a solid relationship with them and just get better at shooting while figuring out my desire of processing style!
Here are my first “good” scans ever:
(These are the COLORS that I love… above and below)
These are some of my “not-so-good” images, they are not too bad.
You can just see the focus is NOT QUITE spot on or my exposure was off…
I am livin’ and learnin’! 🙂

I shot film at 10… but it was all developed at the drugstore and shot on the everyday cameras. 🙂 I photographed so much as a little girl. I’d get in trouble for taking too many silly photos. 🙂 Thanks!

Love it. You’re right. Those batch of colors are just beautiful. Keep it up! I started on film in high school and am still constantly learning. Also, kudos for being so honest about it being your first time. We need more encouragement to try new things instead of intimidating others in the field to be too scared to stretch our talents!
